Hoult was born in Wokingham, Berkshire, on December 7, 1989, to his mother, Glenis, a piano teacher, and his father, Roger. Roger is a former airline pilot. The couple has four children. Hoult Welsh’s middle name, Caradoc, translates to “The Beloved One.”

Dame Anna Neagle, a theater and cinema actress active in the 1930s and 1940s, was his paternal great-aunt. He has three siblings; his older brother is a biology student in the United States, and he has two sisters, Clarista Hoult and Rosanna Hoult, both of whom are actors.
